Dance Party, USA at SXSW

Dance Party, USA a feature film written and directed by alumni Aaron Katz will makes its world premiere in competition this march at the south by southwest film festival in austin, texas. The film was produced by Brendan McFadden and Marc Ripper, photographed by Sean McElwee, edited by Zach Clark, and stars Brendan McFadden and Chad Hartigan, all of whom graduated from the School of Filmmaking in 2004.

Dance Party, USA has added to more screenings to its list of festivals. It will be screening this month in Minnesota as part of the Free Range Film Festival, and then later in August as part of the Chicago Underground Film Festival. More screenings and festivals are on the horizon.

It might play in North Carolina at some point, but I seriously doubt it will screen at NCSA. No there has seemed particuarly interested in the film, or in supporting it, with the exception of Kim Pauley who did send out a nice email congratulations. By the way Dance Party will be having it's first interenationa screen this October in Montreal, showing at Film Pop Montreal. Finally the movie has been racking up some excellent reviews (with more to come we hope). Check out the myspace page for some of those:

Just wait until you get some publicity. Then the school will use your name for marketing like there's no tomorrow. Example: Will Files: while he was here, did everything in the world to kick him out (a record holder for arts probation I believe). Now that he works for Skywalker, he's the prize alumni.

Actually. I'm not sure who posted the previous message, but I believe will indeed be screening the film at NCSA, possibly some time in December. Nothing is final yet, schedules have to be coordinated, etc. But I think things can probably be worked out.
